A rare pair of Chelsea cauliflower plates red anchor period, circa 1755-58

Description

  • 20.25cm., 8in.
formed of rows of overlapping leaves in various tones of green, centred on a white core, the leaves radiating and falling over the edges of the pierced gilt rims (one plate with a haircrack, some crazing and staining)

Condition

One plate has a haircrack running from the rim towards the centre, approx. 2½in. length. There is a tiny nick to the underside of one leaf which falls over the rim. The glaze is crazed overall with some staining in places. The other plate is generally in very good condition with some black specking to the glaze.
