Description

  • 69cm. high; 27¼in.
4¼-inch enamel dial signed Isac Favre A Neuchatel, finely pierced and engraved trellis hands, the two train movement with later deadbeat escapement and steel suspension, sunburst pendulum, trip repeating quarter striking on two bells, a detent releasing the musical movement at each hour, the cadrature mounted on the backplate, signed and numbered Isaac Favre a Neuchatel, No.456, the drum surmounted by an urn and supported on square pillars with gilt foliate and trophy mounts, the breakfront plinth with toupie feet, the similarly signed musical movement with a substantial fusee and chain driving a pinned barrel playing six airs on a carillon of thirteen bells with twenty one hammers, the rectangular case with gilt gallery above panels of burrwood inlaid with paterae and set with gilt trophies, simulated marble pillars and breakfront base, the side doors with gilt trellis frets

Condition

Dial generally good with minor hair crack to left winding hole. Clock movement appears to be complete but is much in need of a clean and not currently working, escapement replaced, striking requires some attention. Musical movement needs a clean but runs and plays well with good tone. Clock case is rather dirty but in reasonably good condition, some edge chips to case, beading lacking from base. Musical case in generally good original condition with old cracks, scuffs, minor losses and repairs throughout, side door hinges defective. With pendulum and two winders.
