- Sofa: 206.5cm, 6ft. 9¼in. wide
comprising a canapé en corbeille and two fauteuils, the canapé with an arched padded back above padded arms and serpentine loose cushion seat on ten cabriole legs the frame carved with flowers and leaves, with the inventory number on the back of the seat-rail N11, each armchair with a cartouche-shaped padded back above padded downscrolled arms on cabriole legs, with a similarly carved frame, the underside of both with the coronet of the French Crown above the letters IS and with an illegible red wax seal, and one with the invetory number in black ink N12, the other with two addorsed letter 'C's; evidence of previous gilding

Condition
Colour overall less green and much more attractive than in the catalogue photographs. Joints sound and sturdy. Some minor wear to painted decoration as visible from photograph. Attractive model. Sofa has metal bar across to strengthen. In overall good restored condition.

He enjoyed a brief career established in rue Charenton. He was known for his production of seat furniture in Louis XV and Transitional styles and his work was characterised by simple classic models of good quality.
