Catalogue Note

Comparative Literature:
Reiner Baarsen, et al., Rococo in Nederland, Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, 2001, p.198, plate 108, for a mirror conceived in a similar vein, formerly in the collection of Baron and Baroness van Heeckeren van Wassenaer-gravin van Aldenburg Bentinck, now in the Stichting, Delden. It has  a swan neck cresting and stylised pilasters on the sides similar to those on this mirror which typifies the Dutch rococo with its exhuberant carving with scrolled volutes and cartouches.
