Condition

STRUCTURE The canvas has been lined. PAINT SURFACE The painting appears in good condition. There is a small area of paint loss to the lower left of the painting. The upper right and lower left corners have been cut and replaced. ULTRAVIOLET Examination under ultraviolet light reveals scattered re-touchings to the sitter's face, neck and shoulders and to the lower edge of the canvas. There has been some light restoration to the left and right edges where frame abrasion has occurred. FRAME Held in a reproduction carved, gilt wood frame.
