  • 12 by 8 5/8 in. (30.5 by 21.9 cm)
worked in red silk stitches on a linen ground, the central panel with arched 'tablets' with a long verse entitled Sincere Praise, the outer borders with luxuriant flowers including roses, iris, tulips and carnations, two small white embroidered birds; signed along the bottom, Ann Stretell Her Work in Ye Year 1733; some losses in the linen ground.

Ann Strettell was a member of the esteemed Latimer family of Philadelphia, one member was trained as a surgeon, and was a member of the Society of the Cincinnati. Eventually, a branch of the family moved to York, Pennsylvania.
