  • height 7 in.; length 16 in.; depth 12 1/2 in. (17.8 cm; 40.6 cm; 31.8 cm)
the rectangular box with hinged lid opening to a compartmented interior with fitted tray; the top, with stamped stars, carved with the figure of a mermaid riding on the back of a sea horse, the figure surrounded by clusters of fruit and berries, flanked by flying paired birds; two bunny rabbits and a basket of eggs; carved on all four sides with peacocks and peafowl perched in tall leafage and palm trees, the top edge in carved layered leaves.
