Description
- John James Audubon (after)
- Virginia Partridge (Plate 76)
- Sheet 652 by 980 mm 25 7/8 by 38 9/16 in
Hand-colored engraving with etching and aquatint, by R. Havell, 1830, on wove paper with the J. Whatman Turkey Mill 183*, with wide margins, in good condition apart from short tears and losses at the sheet edges, some repaired, the right sheet edge discolored, framed
Condition
The print is in good condition as catalogued, the colors are slightly attenuated. There are three repaired tears at the upper sheet edge (and upper left sheet corner), the longest measuring 1 inch. A ½ inch tear at the upper sheet edge at center is not repaired. There are two short tears at the right sheet edge, each backed with non-archival tape, and a 1 inch loss at the left sheet edge which is not backed. The right sheet edge is discolored, likely due to non-archival tape running its length which has been removed. There are a few inconspicuous fox marks in the sheet.
