Engraving with hand-coloring, c. 1731-76, fourth (final) state, engraved by John Carwitham (possibly after a design by William Burgis), published by Bowles and Carver, London, after 1764, on wove paper, trimmed to the plate on three sides, a 1 1/2 inch scrape in the image at upper left, a 2 inch repaired tear at the lower sheet edge extending into the skiff at right, with shorter tears at left and right sheet edges, discoloration throughout, laid down

Condition

The print is laid down to card and trimmed to the plate at left, top and right, and to just below the publication line at bottom. Repaired tear at the lower sheet edge extends vertically into the skiff trailing behind the larger ship. Shorter tears can be seen at the right sheet edge extending horizontally into the ship's sale and at the left sheet edge. The scrape extends vertically in the upper left sheet c. 1 1/2 inch. Discoloration comprises two vertical 11 inch light brown lines at the center of the print, with occasional fox marks in the upper sheet and surface soiling throughout.
