puissamment rythmée par la distorsion des membres asymétriques. Jouant librement des proportions, le sculpteur a concentré l'attention sur le mouvement du bras droit surdimensionné, mettant en valeur le visage tendu vers l'avant. Belle opposition entre la face étroite, presque plane, et la rondeur de la tête vue de profil, soulignée par la crête sagittale et les oreilles circulaires. La puissance de la pose et de la sculpture aux volumes stylisés est accentuée par la surface épannelée. Belle patine nuancée, brun rouge.

Condition
Very good condition overal. Wear consistent with age and use within the culture. A small nail hole to the back, due to the figure having been displayed on the wall by a previous European owner.

cf. Goldwater (1964 : 122) pour une statue stylistiquement comparable provenant de la collection Louis Carré, attribuée par l'auteur à la région septentrionale du pays Sénufo. Cette attribution est confirmée par l'itinéraire du Dr. André Soing, qui se déplaça en 1911 chez les Sénufo du Mali.
