tekoteko, représentant un personnage masculin au visage entièrement orné des traditionnels tatouages curvilignes moko, les longues mains à trois doigts s'étirant le long du torse. A la puissance du traitement corporel et de la tête surdimensionnée s'ajoute celle de l'expression, les yeux en amande disposés à l'oblique, les cavités orbitales ajourées et la bouche autrefois sertis de coquillages. Le panneau inférieur est sculpté de tiki superposés. Belle patine nuancée, brun rouge.

Catalogue Note

Les sculptures tekoteko sont placées au sommet de la façade des deux structures fondatrices de la communauté Maori : la maison sculptée du chef et l'entrepôt (Pataka) - abritant la réserve de nourriture ou les biens précieux des dignitaires.
Cette figure s'apparente, à la fois stylistiquement et iconographiquement, à l'un des tekoteko de la collection James Hooper, reproduit dans Phelps (1976 : 25).
