associant - jusqu'à la perfection - tension des lignes et sensibilité des modelés. Du visage piriforme émerge l'ample front bombé - le volume équilibré au sommet par un méplat - s'achevant dans le modelé subtil des arcades sourcilières. Leur ligne se prolonge jusqu'aux pommettes légèrement saillantes pour cerner les yeux ronds, ajourés, l'extrémité du nez tendue vers l'avant, la bouche charnue entrouverte, aux contours anguleux. Très belle surface à l'arrière, animée par les traces profondes de l'outil ayant servi à le sculpter. Superbe patine noire, luisante.

Ce masque aurait été acquis par Hubert Goldet auprès de Paul Guillaume.
La tension des lignes et la sensibilité des modelés fait de ce masque un des très beaux exemples du style Dan septentrional.
Les orbites rondes, évidées, indiquent qu'il s'agit soit d'un masque de feu zakpei ge, chargé de veiller à la sécurité du village en vérifiant l'extinction des feux domestiques, soit d'un masque de course gunye ge.
