Catalogue Note

Although unmarked, this cane handle is unequivocally by Fabergé, most probably from the workshop of Michael Perchin. The striking opalescent raspberry-red enamel, one of  the many subtle new colours Fabergé added to the enameller's palette, was used both by Perchin and his successor Wigström (for a notebook case and pencil holder in the British Royal Collection by these workmasters see Caroline de Guitaut, Fabergé in the Royal Collection, London, 2003, cat. nos 332-333). On this cane handle the enamel is off-set by a band of finely chased laurel leaves.
