A rare William and Mary cedarwood centre table late 17th century

Description

  • 82cm. high, 117cm. wide, 73cm. deep; 2ft. 8in., 3ft. 10in., 2ft. 4¾in.
the triple boarded top with cleated ends, the moulded frieze with scroll angle brackets, the square baluster turned legs joined by peripheral stretchers

Condition

Generally tidy and with attractive patina. The top with typical separations and with indents and wear commensurate with use. The reverse of the top with later bearers and traces of splashed paint and of overall washed dry grey appearance. The top is detachable from the underframe. There is splitting on the square sections that surmpount the turned legs with some fragmenting and some re-pegging. There is some fragmenting on reverse of frieze rails. The turned legs with traces of black stain and one leg with a flat section to the baluster on the inner side. The stretchers with some fragmenting and indents. The square feet with partial fragmenting.
