each with a circular drip-pan on a composite baluster stem applied with gilt-bronze scrolls and foliate motifs on a concave-sided triform base with trapezoid shaped copper panels, on scrolled feet

Condition
Some minor rubbing and pitting with some minor construction cracks at joints. Evidence of resoldering on underside to some of the copper panels, one of which is loose on both candlesticks, but they can easily be secured. Attractive detail to casting. In overall good original condition. Attractive model.

Catalogue Note
The model of this pair of candlesticks is similar to the projects that Filippo Passarini illustrated in his Nuove invenzioni di ornamenti diversi...., Rome, 1698, plate X, showing a group of candlestick models, some of which were influenced by the sets for the altars at St. Peter's by Bernini, reproduced here in fig.1. This prototype was enriched by Passarini by using volutes and scrolls similar to those on this lot.
