Description

  • 89cm. high, 80cm. diameter ; 2ft 10½in., 2ft. 7¼in.
with a shield surmounted by a papal hat and flanked by tasselled rope with flags below, on an oval backboard

Condition

Colour less green than in the catalogue photograph. Old minor marks and chips. Some refreshment to painting. Old restorations to two vertical construction cracks which have been well executed and are hardly noticeable.

Catalogue Note

The arms are of of Don Luis Manuel Fernandez Portocarrero, Archbishop of Toledo, Spain, Primate of Spain, created Cardinal by Pope Clement IX in 1660. He died in Madrid on 14th September 1709.
