Description

  • 84.5cm. high, 155cm. wide, 60cm. deep; 2ft. 9½in., 5ft. 1in., 2ft. 11¾in.
the hinged cover above a strapwork frieze, below are carved triple male and female angels with spread wings and stylised grapes, all within applied moulded framing, the sides with conforming framing and ogee arched cuts to the base, the interior now forming a silver chest with green baize lining and two conforming trays.

Condition

Good. Top with old marks, scratches and indents. Reverse of cover with hasp hinges and a broken section of later brass lock catch. Front tidy. Some old losses to mask details. Sides with usual splits to boards. Interior with later brass lock that is damaged as the teeth have been sawn through. Baize lining torn and untidy. One end of the interior fitted with a later brass hinged stay for the cover. Of impressive appearance.
