Condition

Old marks, chips and scratches and pitting to the top commensurate with age. The candle box inside is now missing. The piece has been partially re-backed. The detail to the carving is most attractive. The clasp is broken and will need restoring and the lock-plate is a replacement. The top is possibly associated and has an added horizontal strip at the back. The panel on the base is a later replacement. In overall good conserved condition. Lovely mask carved capitals.
