A French carved walnut centre table second half 16th century

Description

  • 82cm. high, 72cm. wide; 2ft. 8¼in, 2ft.4¼in.; length closed: 114.5cm. 3ft.5¼in.: length fully extended: 213.5cm., 7ft.
with a rectangular top with two pull-out slides on either side, the underside with a turned finial at each corner on four columnar supports joined by an arcade and an h-form stretcher surmounted by further arcades on baluster columns and flattened bun feet; restorations to arcaded section 

Condition

Top more faded than the rest, with various construction cracks as visible from photograph, which can easily be filled. The top has old minor chips, scratches and gouges commensurate with age. The baton and finials beneath the top are later as would appear are two of the columnar supports and arcade, baluster columns and the feet. One of the feet has a section chipped off which is not too visible beneath the stretcher. There is a medium sized chip to one of the columnar supports. In overall good condition.
