Description

  • 69cm. high, 55cm. wide, 40cm. deep; 2ft. 3in., 1ft 7½in. 1ft. 3¾in.
with an octagonal dished top above a frieze drawer on composite baluster and turned tapering legs joined by an x-form stretcher surmounted by a finial, on flattened bun feet

Condition

There is a large water stain to the top, with some small gouges and cracks, together with a hairline construction crack which needs filling. Handle on drawer is later. Feet restored. In overall good condition.

Catalogue Note

This `table en cabaret' reflects the multi-functional aspect of furniture in that it was made for both ornamental and utilitarian purposes. The top was used for the placement of a tea or coffee service and was also used for card games which can be seen in contemporary engravings and paintings.
