Condition

Colour less greenish, more natural and attractive than in catalogue illustration. There are iron screw heads visible in the top where it has been secured to the base. Old minor chips and scratches and gouges to the top, which has small areas of infill and water stains and is slightly more faded than the rest. Hairline vertical crack towards the base on left side and small vertical one in right frieze. The drawers have been stained black, inside and out. Insect damage to the rear edge of both side panels. The grotesque mask-fronted drawers relined and there is a minor section on left side of left hand mask off due to insect damage, but present and can be reglued. Slight variation in carving of masks. Old restorations and crack to mask on right which would benefit from a more sympathetic restoration. Minor sections of moulding missing on base of left panel on the door. Evidence of previous fixing beneath the top shelf. Base and front feet a little scuffed and would benefit from a repolish. In overall good conserved condition.
