Catalogue Note
Byron wrote of Galt in his journal, "we are old fellow-travellers, and, with all his eccentricities, he has much strong sense, experience of the world, and is, as far as I have seen, a good-natured philosophical fellow". This work, consisting of letters actually written during his time travelling in the Levant during 1809-11, was published following the relative success of his Voyages and Travels in 1812, and contains a good deal about Byron.
