Catalogue Note

De Bosset, a Swiss in the British army, stationed in the Ionian islands from 1809, was sent to Parga in 1816 prior to its cession to Ali Pasha. However his sympathies with the Pargiot desire to remain part of the Ionian Islands led to his recall and dismissal by Lord High Commissioner Sir Thomas Maitland.

The note opposite the title states, "It having been found, since the Publication of this Work, that certain parts of its contents required elucidation, some additions have been made. The leaves containing them may be had gratis...". This copy is in as early and unaltered a state as possible (with the note and in original boards); the Blackmer copy omitted the note, but collates identically with this copy. A greatly expanded version of this work appeared in 1821.
