This work, a propoganda exercise, displays the towns, castles and islands recently reconquered by the Venetians from the Turks.

this folio edition is rare. Only one copy appears to have been sold at auction in the last 30 years according to ABPC (sale in these rooms, lot 330, 23-24 October 1986, though wrongly described as '8vo' in ABPC).

It seems that the composition of any of Coronelli's works varies (see Blackmer 408, note). This copy accords with that described in Atabey in that it has no folding map (found in some copies), but the present copy only has 14 engravings in the text (of 15; possibly there should be one in the space in the text on the dedication leaf), also it has 45 leaves of text compared with the 55 in the Atabey copy. The book is therefore sold not subject to return.
