Catalogue Note
a fine copy. This is the third edition, but the first with these illustrations. It was first published in 1741-43 in just 12 copies, and reprinted in 1781 in another 100 copies, both for private circulation. The work is fictitious, written by a group of Cambridge dons and students, and is frequently compared with Le jeune Anacharsis (see lot 8).
