Catalogue Note

This is the second edition, the work having appeared in 1802 under the title A Voyage up the Mediterranean. The original edition contained 43 plates, 32 of which appear again here "re-aquatinted and re-etched in some passages, presumably owing to wear" (Abbey); the first 4 plates appear here for the first time.
