Catalogue Note
"The narrative of Mr. S. Soterópoulos is the only authentic description of life among the brigands of Greece which has yet been published... [It] contains matter of the greatest importance to politicians, and those who advocate the restoration of depressed nationalities" (preface).
The Blackmer copy, also in the original publisher's binding, was described (erroneously?) as lacking a frontispiece to volume 2, also not present here.
