"In this work Pouqueville's philhellenic sentiments find full expression" (Blackmer). The portraits are of Colocotronis, Hypsilantis, Canaris, Mavrocordato, Ali Pasha, a Greek soldier and an unflattering one of Charles Maitland at the end of volume 1 (the work is very anti-British and was never published in English).
