Catalogue Note

an uncommon work with the complete set of plates. In the introduction Angeliki Hadzimichali writes: "The rich collection of national costumes in the Benaki museum forms a complete series in which all the most characteristic styles of Greek dress are fully represented." The plates depict costumes from continental Greece, the Peloponnesus, Thessaly, the Island of Euboea, Epirus, Macedonia, Crete, the Aegean and Ionian Islands, Dodecanese, Thrace and Cyprus.
