Catalogue Note
william leake's copy, with his bookplate in each volume (see lots 120-124). "An interesting work" (Blackmer); Mure travelled in early 1838 visiting, inter alia, Corfu, Ithaca, Missolonghi, Delphi, Thebes, Athens, Sunium, Aegina, Corinth, Olympia and Patras. His principal work was A Critical History of the Language and Literature of Ancient Greece (1850-57).
