Catalogue Note
Blackmer gives 1857 as the date of the first edition, though noting possible special issues dated 1856. Intriguingly this copy, dated 1856, carries an old inscription "Belongs to Author" on the verso of the front endleaf, but it seems that copies dated 1856 are relatively common.
