Catalogue Note
Published in parts between 1828 and 1831 the work contains 21 portraits and 7 views or scenes. Krazeisen accompanied von Heideck and the Bavarian philhellenes to Greece in 1826 where he served as a junior officer. The portraits are amongst the best-known of the leaders of the War of Independence and are frequently reproduced. The original drawings are preserved in the National Gallery, Athens.
