Description

  • 41cm. high handle down.
17-cm arched matted dial and engraved silvered chapter ring with Roman numerals, pierced hands and engraved alarm disc, apertures for date and mock pendulum, mask spandrels and lever for strike/silent near II, silvered signature plaque in the arch signed Jean Van Ceulen Le Jeune A La Haye FECIT, fusee verge movement with finely engraved backplate and ring turned knopped pillars, rack striking and pull wind alarm on a bell, ebonized bell top case surmounted by a brass handle and four finials, break arch moulded glazed panels to all sides, moulded plinth raised on brass bracket feet

Condition

dial in original but slightly tarnished condition, chapter ring with nice engraving and half quarter marks, movement able to function and in good condition, 'scape wheel restored, front plate with some unidentified holes indicating that the clock was converted to anchor at one time, lever for strike/silent restored, alarm restored but well done, case in good condition, a few minor scratches due to age and wear, movement was fixed to the case from the side with screws but is held from the inside and the old holes have been plugged, fixing points all original as well as the strips holding the movement, together with a doorkey
