Description
- large plates: 23cm. diameter.
painted with the crowned coat-of-arms of the Reverhorst, surrounded by the coats-of-arms of Van Reverhorst, Dewinter, Vereyck, Debruyn, Devroede, Van Groenendyr, Van Peenen and Schevelius, under scroll borders, comprising: twelve teacups and saucers, six cake plates and two larger plates, minor restorations and chips
Condition
In overall good condition with some minor wear to the painting and gilding. One teacup restored, one with three hairline cracks running down from the upper rim, one with two larger chips to the rim. One saucer with larger rim chip, one broken in two and restored.

Catalogue Note
These pieces are part of a larger service probably made for Theodorus van Reverhorst of the Dutch East India company. Eight arms of his grandparents are as well depicted on the plates. Other pieces from this service are in the Metropolitan Museum, New York, the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam. and the Musée Guimet, Paris. Identical plate has been offered in 2002 in The Dr. Anton C.R. Dreesmann Collection as lot 487.
