Description

  • 116cm. high, 99cm. wide, 44cm. deep.
each with bombé shaped door, applied with scrolling foliage rectangle, enclosing silvered medallion encircled by scallop shells and C-scrolls, the medallion depicting two playing putti and a seated female figure, the corners applied with female busts and scrolled leafs, the sides applied with allegorical motives mask, on lion-headed feet

Sold Sotheby's Germany, 6 October, 1995,  lot 1113, from Die Sammlung der Markgrafen und Gross Herzöge von Baden.  

Condition

Each in overall good condition, with the inevitable minor dents, marks and scratches due to age and use, the bronze work and silvered medallion with some soiling, each with minor hairline cracks to sides and front of the veneer, minor veneer losses to door edges the base with minor losses to veneer.
