Dubois A Paris, foliate pierced gilt hands, flat bottomed verge escapement with silk suspended pendulum with monogramm DFDB K1444, rack Dutch half hour striking on two bells or at will, ormolu case surmounted by a basket with grapes and trailing vines mounted on a fluted column flanked by two putti with a fire basket in front, mounted on an oval break front base with ormolu mounts raised on turned feet

Denis-François Dubois became master clockmaker in 1768. He is recorded working in Paris at Rue des Fosses and Rue des Cordeliers having the title Monsieur le Prince. Tardy, Dictionnaire des Horlogers Français, pp. 191.

dial original with a scratch near XII but nothing major, minute hand repaired, quality hands, movement complete but very dirty and in need of a complete overhaul, all parts are there and springs with tension, case in good condition with slight rubbing to the gilding of the base, marble with a few rim chips, pendulum bob loose but with the clock, together with a pendulum

The iconographic theme of the clock is 'The Four Seasons'. The putto with flowers personifying Spring, the one with ares and sickle Summer. The basket with grapes and vines for Autum and the fire basket for Winter.
