Catalogue Note
The Morgan and Sanders globe-shaped secrétaire was based on the so-called 'Pitt's Cabinet Globe Writing Table', invented by the London cabinet-maker George Remington in the early 19th century. This unusual design proved to be much admired all over Europe, Queen Charlotte, for example, bought a model as a birthday gift for Princess Augusta in 1810.
