Description

  • An enamel and split pearl set consular cased verge watch with chatelainecirca 1790 no 2527
  • diameter 54 mm, chatelaine length 205 mm
• gilt full plate verge movement signed Richard Clarke 2527 London, fusee and chain, pierced and engraved balance cock, plain balance, turned pillars • winding through the white enamel dial, Arabic numerals • case back with translucent blue enamel over engine turning and centred by a diamond set monogram, split pearl set bezels surrounded by blue and white enamel (some small restoration), case maker's mark VW for Valentine Walker • the chatelaine with pendant chains decorated en suite, some panels heightened with diamonds and terminating with four tassels and a key

Condition

Movement is complete and will run but currently very sticky and will need a clean and overhaul. Dial with a few small scratches, there is also a small hairline crack to the edge of the dial by 4 o'clock. Case with soft enamel to front and back bezels by the hinge and a small part at the base of the back bezel. Diamond set monogram is MJ. Chatelaine in attractive overall condition with a few minor chips and scratches.
