  • A gold and enamel triple cased verge watch made for the Turkish Market1788 no 23338
  • diameter 50 mm
• gilt full plate verge movement signed Markwick Markham Borrell, London, 23338, fusee and chain, pierced and engraved balance cock • white enamel dial, Turkish numerals, gold beetle and poker hands • plain polished inner case, case maker's mark IK, diamond set pendant with banded white and red enamel decoration, central case with polychrome enamel scene of a Turkish harbour over engine turning, framed by red translucent enamel and outer pink enamel heightened with gold and red and blue enamel flowers, similarly decorated bezel, diamond set thumb piece, the outer case with similar floral decoration against a turquoise enamel ground, dial and movement signed

Condition

Movement running but would benefit from servicing. Dial loose and will need securing, minute hand also loose. Dial with hairline crack from the edge between 8 and 9 and some scratches. The enamel scene to the middle case generally fine with a couple of small scratches, the decorative floral bezels with a few minor chips and small cracks. Catch to outer case is broken.
