Represented by several different reference numbers, the Rolex Cosmograph Daytona has become one of the most iconic sporting watches of all time. The present wristwatch represents one of the earliest versions of the Daytona model produced. Launched in 1960, the reference 6239 was, for the first year only, manufactured with a bezel calibrated for 300 units per hour before quickly changing to a 200 unit calibration. Early versions of reference 6239 are rare and highly collectible due to their pivotal position in the development of the legendary Daytona model.
