Lange & Söhne first produced automatic watches as early as 1891, however, the Langematik is the first automatic watch produced by Lange & Söhne since the revival of the firm in 1994. Development of the 'Sax-O-Mat' automatic calibre took 5 years. This model incorporates the patented oversized date which was the first mechanism of its kind for wristwatches to offer a large and highly legible date display which is easily and quickly adjusted through the pusher in the band, a feature that is widely appreciated by watch collectors.
