Catalogue Note

Charles de Temple was born in Mexico in 1929, an American citizen, he is often thought of as a British jeweller as he both lived and worked in London.  He was a contemporary of Andrew Grima, most prolific in the 1950s and 1960s.  Temple was inspired by and admired the Surrealist work of Dali and the techniques and delicacy of Lalique and the Art Nouveau movement.  His original use of design in his work is very distinctive.
