The well known firm of Paul Sormani was established in Paris from 1847 to 1877 and were at 10 rue Charlot between 1867 and 1877. In 1878 his son, Paul-Charles Sormani, and his widow continued the business under the name Sormani veuve Paul et fils. After the war 1914-18 he associated with Thiebaux and moved to 134 boulevard Hausmann, where he stayed in business there until 1934. Many of the pieces made by the firm were directly influenced by earlier 18th century models. Their work was especially recognised for its exceptional quality and was widely exhibited during the second half of the century.
