The bibliothèque and bureau in overall good condition and with the inevitable minor dents, marks and scratches due to use and age, the marble top of the bibliothèque with minor rim frittings, minor scratching to the surface. The top and lower left side with small loss to the moulding, right back foot replaced. The bureau lacking panel between two top drawers, leather border of writing surface with minor losses, lock plates of top drawers and two doors lacking, highly attractive pieces.

Meynard et Fils was established by Guillaume Meynard at 50, Faubourg Saint-Antoine in 1812. In 1833, Meynard was joined in business by his eldest son, Guillaume-Mathieu. His grand son, Léon-Guillaume, joined the company in 1866 and sold the business to Frager in 1889. Pieces of the firm were shown regular at the international exhibitions and received a gold medal at the 1878 Exhibition in Paris.
