A Japanese Imari five-piece garniture 18th/19th century

decorated with peacock and flower motives in underglaze blue, picked out with enamels in brown, red and ochre; comprising: three octagonal baluster vases and covers and two trumpet vases, one cover replaced in wood

The baluster vases in overall good condition, two with craquelé within the glaze, all three with losses to the enamels, some scratching and glaze wear; the covers: all with losses to the enamels and glaze wear, one with larger hairline crack , two larger rim chips (ca. 5 and 7cm. long, restored, stapled and with wooden replacements), the finial possibly later, another cover with chips and glaze losses to the finial, the finial restuck, small piece of the tail replaced, the third cover replaced in painted wood, with the earthenware finial (larger chip to the tail, glaze chips); the trumpet vases: one with glaze craquelé, losses to the enamels, large restored breaks within the lower section, the other with losses to the enamels, large crack (ca. 14cm. long) running down the rim.
