A Victorian walnut and brass hall stand by James Shoolbred & Co, late 19th century

with reeded finials and coat hooks with a small shelf above a brass umbrella stand, remains of a label to the reverse, brass fittings stamped with registration mark RD70357

In overall good restored condition, there is some wear to the metalwork and the copper is showing through in places.There are dents and marks to the base where the umbrellas are housed, as would be expected.

The firm of James Shoolbred & Co., was established circa 1870, later expanding to become one of the first great department stores in London, on Tottenham Court Road. The firm was renowned for standards of quality and was issued with a Royal warrant in the mid 1880s.
