Fair condition though there are some scratched areas with some losses.

Catalogue Note
The art of sand painting developed in Britain in the 1780's. The technique was introduced by Benjamin Zobel (1762-1831) who apprenticed at his family's confectionery business in Bavaria. It was his knowledge of creating intricate sugar patterns that eventually led him to develop the distinctive sand pictures.
Subject matter ranged from copies of popular paintings to views of the Isle of Wight where the unique coloured sand used in the pictures came from.
