Description

  • 24cm. high, 24cm. wide, 37cm. deep; 9½in., 1ft. 7in., 1ft. 2½in.
the interior with an upper shelf above three punchwork decorated drawers, the lid with a coat of arms and initials 'EM', later patch below lock plate

Condition

Good. Darkish colour and with attractive honey colour too the rear ledge of the top, outer surface of the fall and on details to the front. Some typical old chipping and wear commensurate with age and use. The cover has an associated hasp. Indications of a former hasp mount on the underside of the fall and it's old fixings still visible. These fixings also visible on the outer surface below the shield and within the moulded folio ledge. This ledge with old fragmenting and loss at one end. The interior with indications of former lock and a rectangular old timber inset on this site. This is visible on the exterior under the lock plate. The interior surrounding area of the lock with old torn paper applied. The floor with a small aperture and the underside of the floor with some nail heads and minor traces of worm.
