Metalwork slightly oxidized, consistent with age. One or two minor dents in places and one or two minor restorations, including to the base of one branch. Upper section of one slightly looser than the other. Pieces not tested or guaranteed for electricity; these are in need of rewiring. Of good overall condition, this is an impressive and imposing pair of unusual size. In 1838 A.W.N Pugin persuaded his friend John Hardman to leave his Birmingham button making business and form John Hardman Ltd.  This new company created metalwork to Pugins designs.  Teams of craftsmen from John Hardman Ltd. were responsible for providing most of the metalwork and stained glass in Sir Charles Barry's New Palace of Westminster.
