the upper section with two pairs of glazed doors enclosing adjustable shelves, the lower part with corresponding fielded panelled cupboard doors enclosing further shelves, possibly reduced in size, later bracket feet

Good overall condition. The catalogue description carries no date as there are unexplained cuts to the cornice, waist moulding and base moulding at the extremities of the sides. In addition to this the bracket feet are later. Such irregularities in construction as the cuts to various mouldings would normally suggest alteration such as reduction in dimensions. However it is not obviously apparent in this case what form the bookcase would have originally have taken if this is the case. The colour is good and consistent. Minor old marks and scratches consistent with age. Good patina.
